Noosa mum of two Davina May Marr has co-written, co-directed, produced and stars in Rebound — an independent Christmas romantic comedy shot entirely in the Sunshine Coast. Hair and makeup happened while her children sat on her lap eating breakfast. Investor calls took place while walking the dog. Phone meetings whilst she cooked dinner or wiped her kid's bum. It was a level of multitasking powered mostly by caffeine, optimism and mild delusion. "That's independent filmmaking whilst also being a mum," Marr said. "One minute you're cleaning your kid's vomit off your costume as you rush out the door. The next you're in the sand dunes with a camera in your face, acting sexy, trying to remember your lines whilst wondering if your scene partner can still smell the vomit on you." REBOUND follows Dee, a woman in her late 30s desperately searching for "the one". After a string of disastrous dates - the guy who's too tall, too short, too smart or somehow not smart enough - the story appears to head towards a classic romantic comedy ending before flipping expectations in a way audiences don't see coming.
